Hydrogels
Besides the conventional MatriXpec™ Thermo, we also offer MatriXpec™ Photo, which allows UV photocrosslinking, offering an optimal combination of biochemical and biomechanical properties for bioprinting 3D constructs based on tissue-specific microenvironments.
Each version of MatriXpec™ – currently available for 15 different tissues – contains hundreds of tissue-specific extracellular matrix proteins derived from the native tissue. It means all and only the ECM proteins of each tissue will be present, leading to a unique combination found only in the tissue microenvironment itself.
Due to the very particular composition of each version of MatriXpec™, it is possible to use our hydrogels to direct cell behavior and differentiation. The combination of tissue-specific proteins and biomechanical properties produce clues that cells interpret and react to, ultimately modulating their ability to proliferate, migrate and differentiate.
MatriXpec™ hydrogels allow the formation of three-dimensional vascular networks when mixed with endothelial cells. This possibility paves the way for larger, clinically relevant, biofabricated tissues.
